Default Why is everyone againist elitness?

I understand no uber weapons but why cant they look uber and look really really great. I saw someone mention gold bars for ascended characters and i really saw no point in that since 90% of the players are already ascended so we would look the same anyway BUT some arrogant member was like. " why so you can show off that you ascended. we need to keep that stuff out of this game"

So you rather have everyone look exactly alike with no fancy weapons and dull colored dyes?

Does looking good give you a unfair advantage?

There are fancy weapons.

Chaos axes, fellblades etc...

There are fancy armours. Fissure of Woe, the 15k armours in the southern shiverpeaks. It is not easy to assemble the stuff for those, and if you want a different look it is out there.

As for something for ascending? Ascension is an easy milestone, I don't really see it as giving anything special.

Ascension is not a easy milestone, it takes 3 missions and a 1v1 battle to get it.

I think its all that "chosen" deal that ends up being ... nothing, we dont get anything diferent from being chosen besides a crack at ascenion and ascension itself its pointless if you are already lv20.

If ascended characters got anything special we might see something about the whole "gift of true sight" deal, as it stands beating the mirror means going to see Glint and thats about it.

Why should they? As mentioned before we've already got a lot of stuff.

Most likely because it's not as simple as changing

MAX_NUM_WEAPONS = 20;

to

MAX_NUM_WEAPONS = 100;

Are you seriously that stupid? Do you know why World of Warcraft has thousands of items and persistant world and Guild Wars doesn't? It's very simple: IT COSTS MONEY.

You don't pay a monthly fee because the game doesn't cost as much to maintain, nor did it cost as much to make. If you want a game with thousands of hours of content and millions of man-hours of modeling, then be ready to pay for it.

Most people aren't against an elite look, but the attitude that can accompany some when they get the look, lol

They could just ask for fan submissions. Give out the specific requirements and technical aspects, etc. You'd be surprised at how good some people are.

And who is going to pay the programmers and artists for checking your work and making sure it won't break the code/game?

ArenaNet is not a big company. So we should be thankful that they are so much spending time/money to maintain the servers and keep releasing regular updates. The fact is...when you are actually playing the game in mission, quest, PvP etc. How often do you walk close up to other people to look at their armor? I'm not talking about during the preparation stage...but actually WHILE you are fighting in PvP/PvE.

There is plenty of variety with the dyes and the Fissure / Granite / Grotto armor. And go get your Mursaat hammer or Chaos axe and dye it pink if you want good visual effects.

ArenaNet should concentrate more on game mechanics improvement rather than spending too much time on more trivial things.

My point exactly. 3 missions and a quick fight. It isn't a huge achievement to do it - it's not hard and you are lead right to it - you don't get a medal for completing the first three, why would you get something for the middle three? It's a plot device. And frankly, it's not even that tough. The only ascension mission I had to do more than once was the second time I did dunes, it took 2 tries - once was just overconfidence/not watching the patrols, the next time we had only 2 of us and we took ranged henchies (Orion, Reyna, Claude, Alesia) to control the AI better. Beat it with time to spare.
